of their respective ETPs’ revised work plan for January
– June 2010, as well as exhibiting the achievements
of the TVET Reform Programme

- With the ever competitive
furniture industry in the world; the Egyptian furniture industry
created one of the most recognizable industry fairs in the
region called Furnix .that was the 6th edition of this ever
successful fair ; evidence being the participation of 6oo
furniture purchasing manager coming from Europe , USA, Canada
, middle east & Africa. This fair was the plate from for
the ETP to present itself and its wide array of services that
is designed to support the development of the sector with
the respect to the sector’s needs in vocational training
& development in its wider definition.
On the 3rd day of the fair General Mohamed Helal lead a round
table that included stakeholders in our industry such as the
chamber of wood & furniture presented by its chair man
Captain Reda Allah Helmy & the industrial training council
presented by its general manager Eng. Medhat Medany and the
industrial modernization center presented by its general manager
Mr. Adham Nadeem
General Helal clarified and explained the role of the ETP
(wood working and furniture TVET enterprise training partnership)
and the efforts that are being exerted to up grade the productivity
and the efficiency of Egyptian workers in the furniture industry,
he also highlighted the much prized COCS (centers of competence)
that are considered the incubators for more qualified trainers/
workers in this industry.
As mentioned before Furnix was a plat from for the ETP to
increase its membership base among Egyptian manufacturers
.the response was overwhelming to the services offered by
the ETP being able to collect demand for training programs
and other services provided by the ETP to upgrade and develop
the skills of the Egyptian labor in the furniture industry

- Upgrading of three
schools guaranteed by TVET Reform Programme and industry leader
A Cooperation Protocol for the development of three schools
has been signed between Arab Contractors and the TVET Reform
Programme on May 20, 2009. Eng. Ibrahim Mahleb, Chairman of
Arab Contractors, and Gen. Mohamed Helal, Programme Manage-ment
Unit Director of the TVET Reform Programme, signed the protocol
on behalf of their respective programmes in accord with European
Union regulations on the upgrade of technical and vocational
education

- Programme to improve
the quality of TVET service delivery is launched
A Ministry of Manpower and Migration-organised workshop to
exchange experiences in TVET was held in Alexandria from May
17-18, 2009. The workshop offered an opportunity for international
cooperation between Saudi Arabian and Egyptian TVET service
provid-ers, and featured a marketplace displaying the TVET
Reform Programme's Enterprise-TVET Partnerships

in the spotlight at the Ministry of Manpower and Migration
workshop in Alexandria
All staff of the TVET Reform Programme gathered at the Movenpick
in Ain Sokhna from May 3 – 7, 2009,
to discuss and finalise their work plan for the 2009/2010
financial year. The inputs put forward in the fourth Annual
Work Plan workshop produced many cross-cutting discussions,
of which the following themes were the most prevalent: Consolidation
and sustainability of sectoral Enterprise-TVET Partnerships
(ETPs), establishment of Lo-cal ETPs, strengthening the TVET
reform policy, developing indicators for effective moni-toring
and evaluation, and the exchange of information and best practice.
